Modern homes rely extensively on electricity. It powers the appliances that heat and cool our homes, light our rooms, preserve and prepare our food, wash and dry our clothes and dishes, entertain us and much more. Electricity can be provided from a public power grid or local generation. Developed countries tend to have greater access to electricity, compared to developing countries.
While electricity is a critical part of modern living and useful to us in many ways, it also introduces some dangers: electrocution, burns and fires. So, it is important to use care in dealing with electrical systems.
